GeocacheAlaska! Basic First Aid EduVent
Get ready to hit the Geocaching trails and be prepared for those little injuries that may happen while out in the wilderness. This EduVent will cover the very basics of preparing for and treating minor injuries through basic first aid methods that are appropriate for use in wilderness settings. Our presenter is long-time geocacher SSO JOAT from Soldotna, who is a Paramedic with nearly 3 decades of experience in Alaska. This course will be a rapid review of the assessment and management of several common injuries that may happen during typical off-the-road geocaching adventures. We'll talk about how to treat these injuries until you can get out of the wilderness and back to regular medical care. Perfect for new as well as seasoned cachers to enhance your geocaching experience this summer. Also perfect for those who get queasy at the sight of blood, because JOAT breaks things down into plain and simple terms without any ugly photos of blood and gore.
Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of any changes or updates to this class. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account.
Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 7:00 p.m. Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert to share with your fellow cachers. Class will be inside the BP EC.
The new 2018 GeocacheAlaska! Pathtag sets will be available for purchase at this event!
Note: The GeocacheAlaska! Board of Directors Meeting will be held prior to the event from 1730-1845 with the Event going from 1900-2030.
