Welcome to the Katy Ryan geocache. This cache was created to help cachers earn souvenirs during the 2018 Hidden Creatures adventure, and to introduce a piece of Ballarat history they might not be aware of.
Katy Ryan was a real person. She had a store at a now unknown location somewhere along this unsealed road between 1930 – 1950. The road is named Katy Ryans Road in her honour. The cache is hidden in bushland known as the Canadian Corridor and is close to the road.
There is sometimes long grass here, so one cannot ignore the possibility of snakes being in the vicinity when the weather is warm. Please dress appropriately.
The cache contains a log, a pen and a pencil, some swag and a FTF prize. Please remember the geocaching rule: Only take swag if you swap it for something of equal or greater value.
Please return the cache to its hiding place as you found it. If there are problems with the cache please contact me and I'll do maintenance.
With a volume of only 3.5 L this cache is classified as a Regular (M)* size.
There is safe, road verge parking not far from GZ.
Happy geocaching!
*Regular (M) containers are 1 – 20 L in volume so this cache is on the lower end of the scale for a Regular (M) sized cache.
