Sammy's Cache Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

ChiefGeocacher: Hello CharmaineLioness -

The cache appears that it may need owner intervention. You likely have received a notification indicating that the health score has fallen below the threshold. A low health score doesn't always mean the cache is missing or has other issues, but that together with a manual inspection of logs shows that this cache would benefit from a visit by the cache owner.

I'm temporarily disabling it, to give you an opportunity to check on the cache.

If you have checked on it and it's ready to be found again, please post a note of type "enable listing" so it starts to appear again for other cachers to find.

If you are unable to check on this in a timely manner, please post a note on the cache page indicating your plans for this cache. If it will take longer than 1 month, please continue to post updates approximately once a month.

In either situation, do so in a timely manner (within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

Please do NOT email as this will not make your intentions known to all reviewers.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Geocache Description:

A cache in the heart of SoHo.

This cache is named for my cat Sammy and is a tribute to the extraordinary friendship, loyalty and unconditional love we receive from our pets.   I adopted Sammy, a beautiful and loving Flame Point Siamese, in 2010 from the Animal Control Center of New York.  He is a neighborhood resident, and will be sending you good caching vibes from our home a few blocks from the cache

The cache is located in Father Fagan Park, named for Father Richard Fagan, a friar and associate pastor of St. Anthony’s Church. St. Anthony’s, located at Sullivan and Houston Streets, is the first Italian church in New York, the Second Italian Church founded in the US, and the oldest existing Italian parish in the US.  It was established in 1866 to accommodate the Italian immigrant population in New York City.
In 1938, at the age of 27 Father Fagan died tragically and heroically in a fire at the Franciscan friary on Thompson Street, after saving two fellow St. Anthony's priests from the fire.

When you find this cache, I hope you think of the heroes in your life, four-legged and two-legged.

Please post a picture of your furry friend in the gallery, and visit the sister caches Sammy II, Sammy III and Sammy IV.
