The small village of Aberangell wasn't always such a quiet place. When you look across the Dyfi valley it is a scene of pastoral bliss. When the Bandits of Mawddwy roamed here, the area was much more wooded, making it a dangerous place to travel with those ruffians about. The Industrial Revolution changed the face of the village. There was a branch line from the Cambrian Railway passing through. This was connected to A tramway coming all the way down the valley behind you, 3.5 miles. It brought slate from the quarries, and timber from the forests. The tramway is now a tarmacked road. The valley is worth exploring as there are many wonders to discover.
