Dragons used to inhabit Hong Kong in great numbers, but human encroachment on their territory has pushed them to the brink of extinction. Few are aware of the nesting sites around High West Peak on the west of Hong Kong Island, but there is a small population of the lesser blue spotted variety roosting high above the city. These dragons are small in size and nest in rocky areas, usually with a clear view to the ocean where they often fly at dusk and dawn to feed. The juveniles sometimes nest lower than the highest peaks in order to make the return journey easier.
The GZ is located at a known roosting site, so please move slowly and quietly to avoid disturbing the nests, and make sure everything is left as you found it.
