This island has been a "shady retreat for pleasure seekers" since 1872. Back then, it was owned and operated as a zoo and museum.
In 1897, Eaton Rapids bought it for a city park. It is the "Island" of "Island City" and brings tourists and locals alike to enjoy shade and the water from the shore. It is a great place to relax, play, eat, and fish.
