"Now I was born in New Jersey, July 1, 1899.... I was raised in Princeton, and my father was Professor of Medieval Studies. He was a very smart man. My mother adored him. She was the sweetest, smartest, most wonderful woman who ever lived.... One day, something wonderful happened. My dad was invited to visit all these different schools and universities around the world. He wrote some important books, you see? So he was going to make this great trip, and we were going with him. The trip was going to take on close to two whole years...."

Welcome to my new (almost) easy ongoing series of geocaches: The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. A majority of my Hides are themed on your favorite older, more seasoned professor of archaeology, and they take you on long treks through tick-infested jungles, storm drain secret passageways, rotting and abandoned temple structures, and mysterious islands guarded by angry geese and snakes, among other places. Sound exciting?! If so, you're a nut, like me. If not, well, you probably fall into the majority of (more normal) geocachers in the world.
Yeah, these places aren't always a joy to get to--especially in heavy tick and mosquito summers like we're seeing in 2018. Balancing. Climbing. Wading. Ducking. Tick-checking. Crawling. Tick-checking. Stepping on, over, around, behind. Tick-checking. Foot traffic is slow, and maintenance is a pain. Am I right, Makers?
Oh, but the call of the wild is still there!
So, I thought I'd start this new series that's almost out there but not quite off the beaten path. More like right at the start of the path or, maybe, ten feet off it. A hair out of your comfort zone, but your comfort zone will still be right at your tippy toes when you reach for the cache. I've been told I need a series of rubber bug/Darth Vader Helmet/I See Dead People tube-like caches for Everyone... so, here we go! Indy had to walk before he could run...
