Welcome to Kai Tak Development area, one of Hong Kong's newest housing development locations with both public and private housing complexes. As everyone knows, Hong Kong has always been short on affordable housing, and in 2006 the Government finally started doing something about the unused Kai Tak International Airport complex abandoned since 1998. The debates on what to do with all of this prime real estate has been a hotly debated issue in Hong Kong for many years now. Plans seem to come and go but finally the last remnants of the old airport were torn down and groundwork was laid for numerous housing complexes. I have watched these gigantic buildings (35 to 40 floors!) rise up out of the ground at an amazing speed. Tak Long and Kai Ching Estates were completed in 2013, providing more than 13,000 housing units to citizens who had been waiting for years on government public housing waiting lists. Several more housing complexes are still currently under construction and more are planned in the future. An MTR link is also scheduled to open in 2019. Please check out "Kai Tak Development" Wiki article for additional details.
Your GZ is where local residents come to exercise, unwind, play games, or just relax. All are welcomed here, even smokers who have their own designated spot (far away from this GZ!) The GZ is open 24/7, though some special areas here close at 10pm. During prime times and on weekends, this place is quite busy and full of happy people. Perhaps you should take a stroll around the area and enjoy the sunshine, wind or night air for yourself.
