Welcome to the West Rand, Gauteng!
The West Rand geocaching community is very proud to present BLACK EAGLE GEOART, the only GeoArt series to date in South Africa depicting the rare Black Eagle!
Apart from its rich cultural history, the West Rand in Gauteng, South Africa is also home to an extremely active geocaching community. The West Rand geocachers are a social bunch and meet at least once every month to share stories, swap experiences and trackables and enjoy each other's company.

Numbers
Numbers are what makes that world go round. Yes, it can be argued that music is more profound. Just ask the person opening an international rugby game by singing Nkosi. Xylofon players might also disagree. Others could say words are the basis of language and thus make up who we are as people. How we express our thoughts and feelings. At the risk of the dethronement of language and words as the ultimate expression of human beings, I am going to argue that numbers rule the world. A stuntwoman who lives on adrenalin might prefer actions as an expression of the human condition. Somebody experiencing a misevent might even feel that perhaps tears are a greater form of expression. An overweight person however will be able to explain in a network of detail what the numbers on a scale means to them. An unemployed person who is even a few minutes late for a job interview understand the significance a few numbers might have. A widow feels how time threeps her down after the loss of her life partner. As will a widower who misses the feminineness of his dearly departed wife feel the punch of the numbers on the clock. You can also expect an accurate answer on what the meaning of time is from the soldiers retuning on the fourgon. A person on dialysis waiting for that world changing kidney transplant also understands that the numbers on a blood test result can be the difference between life and death. Music is significant yes. Language even more so. However of the three, numbers remains the most important.
