Geocache Description:

Cache Is Not At The Posted Coordinates

Mr. Toot is the mascot not only of the North Iowa Band Festival, but also for Mason City as a whole.  His image has appeared on everything from T-Shirts to business cards to city light poles. Now his image also appears on the geocaching map just south of Mason City Iowa.  Each of these puzzles will include a fact or story in theme with the art series.  Some may also include a question or two for you to answer correctly to find the coordinates.

Meredith Willson

"Till There Was You" is a song written by Meredith Willson for his 1957 musical play The Music Man and also appeared in the 1962 movie version.  The song is sung by librarian Marian Paroo (Barbara Cook on Broadway, Shirley Jones in in the film) to "Professor" Harold Hill (protrayed by Robert Preston on stage and in the film)

It was first recorded by Jazz vocalist Sue Raney with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra on October 29, 1957 for her first album, "When Your Lover Has Gone".  This recording pre-dated the opening of The Music Man by about 6 weeks.  It was recorded again in 1958, by Sonny Rollins; 1959, by Anita Bryant; 1961, by Peggy Lee; 1961, by Etta Jones; 1962, by Al Hirt; 1962, by Nana Mouskouri; In 1963, by Sergio Franchi; 1974 by Beto Guedes; 2003 by Rod Stewart; and in 2007 by The Smithereens.
