Geocache Description:

GSEL, Ethness and I had a weekend away from Wellington.

To paraphrase StarTrek:

This is not the voyage of the starship Enterprise

Our 2 day mission.

  • To explore strange new worlds (well countryside),
  • To seek out new (to us at least) caches,
  • And new Civilisations (well, obscure townships and settlements in the back blocks of the Manawatu, Northern Wairarapa & Southern Hawkes Bay),
  • To boldly go where no geocacher has gone before (not sure we managed that bit).

We didn't have the 23rd century USS Enterprise, but the 23 years old White Nissan Sentra hatchback performed admirably instead.

Captain's Log:  Stardate: 0107.18....

On our second full day of Star-mapping, an unexplained object was encountered.  I ordered an exploration of the environs to ensure that it posed no danger to our vessel's intended course. On the "Bridge", Mr. Spock immediately ordered general alert.

Star maps revealed no indication of habitable planets nearby. Closer examination of the initial object revealed a small hidden capsule, containing some writing. Origin and purpose of this object remains unknown. Scotty / Ethness held  the ship here, motionless, for about 5 minutes whilst Science Officer GSEL confirmed our location using his portable scanner."

But my next decision, major – probe on ahead or turn back?

We decided to press on into the unknown, leaving the strange blue object behind us.  Can you confirm that it is still there, and does not pose a danger  to humanity?
