Geocache Description:

Have you ever heard that “one is the loneliest number?” Well in Blackwater Bay, one ship, one arrow, and one leader came together to deliver the green blow that lit Blackwater Bay. Each one came together to perform a mission and lonely they were not. In order to be completely successful, the cavalry needed to join in, but you won’t be needing that much help.  When you do head out to retrieve this cache, think as strategically as Tyrion Lannister. Don’t rush in and aimlessly seek to grab the cache and sign the log. Instead, take a step back, carefully observe the surroundings, and plan your attack. If you do, you are sure to meet with great success.

This cache was inspired by a previous cache that went missing around the time Hurricane Irma caused major flooding in this area.

The deck, bench and kayak launch overlook this Oxbow off the main flow of Ten Mile Creek. Water passes through the cache area with water flowing into the creek from natural runoff  and man made channels. Depending on when you happen to visit this Blackwater Bay, it is interesting to see the dramatic changes with water levels and the flow. Often it is almost a dark stagnant looking area, but next time the overall water level can be much lower or a nice flow passing out into the larger creek.

The cache is a simple tethered pill bottle with camo, and at some point, it just might be in the water. The “T” rating reflects the distance walked and at times of higher water it could be on the low side. As always respect the Oxbow area for its beauty and maintain respect for the dangers inherent in any natural area of Florida.
