Geocache Description:

Cache Is Not At The Posted Coordinates

Mr. Toot is the mascot not only of the North Iowa Band Festival, but also for Mason City as a whole.  His image has appeared on everything from T-Shirts to business cards to city light poles. Now his image also appears on the geocaching map just south of Mason City Iowa.  Each of these puzzles will include a fact or story in theme with the art series.  Some may also include a question or two for you to answer correctly to find the coordinates.

Also in that same song, The Buffalo Bills sing, "The D.A.R. has sent a cannon for the courthouse square."  The D.A.R. is the Daughters of the Americn Revolution, a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization.  Made up of descendants of soldiers in the American Revolution, they are dedicated to promoting patriotism and preserving American history.

However, the organization is probably most noted for refusing to let the great African-American contralto Marian Anderson perform in 1939 at the D.A.R.'s Constitution Hall because she was black.

On April 8, 1993, Marian Anderson, the first African-American singer to appear at New York's Metropolitan Opera.
