When my kids were young soccer was a fairly new sport in this area. After watching the kids play I finally joined a team. I have a scar on my head to prove that I wasn't afraid to go for a header. I did a touch of mowing and helping out back in the day. The number of playing fields have expanded since I played, as has the number of youth athletes. Every year there is a Big Foot Soccer tournament at the local fields. Big Foot brings in people and money to support the kids. If the weather is good it is a beautiful spot in the valley. Rain...ah well, Washington rain and former farm fields...that is a recipe for mud.
