Cache Is Not At The Posted Coordinates
Mr. Toot is the mascot not only of the North Iowa Band Festival, but also for Mason City as a whole. His image has appeared on everything from T-Shirts to business cards to city light poles. Now his image also appears on the geocaching map just south of Mason City Iowa. Each of these puzzles will include a fact or story in theme with the art series. Some may also include a question or two for you to answer correctly to find the coordinates.
Mason City
On Nov. 10, 1911, after a years operation of The Colby Motor Company, an eight per cent dividend was declared by the board of directors. Stockholders and management thought they had a good thing.
With orders already on hand for the following years operation for more than a thousand automobiles and with more than 100 men employed in the plant, it looked like the Colby Motor Company was here to stay. The construction of the second building took place in 1912 to make room for expanding operations. At the height of its expansion the plant employed 210 men.
The new models for 1912 met instantaneous recognition from the public. Commendations were coming from buyers in far off places such as New York, Boston and other eastern points. Demand for the car kept going up.
