Geocache Description:

With the amount of caches in Bradford on Avon, placing a cache on the river in the town area is impossible. This multi lets you enjoy the scenic view of the town from the viewpoint of the river, and takes you from the weir near Greenland Mills to the weir at Avoncliff. You will travel around 4 miles and should allow 2 to 3 hours depending on your ability, vessel and the conditions at the time. I have seen various types of wildlife while in this area as Ducks and Herons are common, and I have spotted a Kingfisher in 2 different areas of the river while placing these caches.

To find the cache, paddle to the headline coords where you will see Greenland Mills, which has now been put to residential use. In the 1980s the companies working there had to leave in advance of development of the whole site for housing, which did not happen until the increasingly derelict and listed Upper Mill was burnt down by arsonists. Since then, a replica of the old factory has been built as a block of flats and surrounded by houses.

Here you will see 6 windows in the roof space of the mill directly ahead of you.

Let C = number of triangle topped square windows, and D = number of smaller square windows.

Next, paddle downstream to the railway bridge at N 51 20.720 W 002 14.839 where you will need to keep right of the middle support structure. Just above the waterline on the central structure you will see a number of metal spikes embedded in the brickwork.

Let A = number of straight spikes, and B = number of angled spikes.

**** Edit 1/9/18....It appears that I missed one of the straight spikes when setting the cache, so until I can get out on the river to verify this, please let A = 1 ****

The cache can be found at N51 20. (A+B) (CxD) (A-C) W002 16. (B+C+D) (A+B+D) (A+B)

You are looking for a small drink container that has been secured in place using hook and eye screws, and has a micro cache containing the logbook inside it so that it should stay safe and dry. Please replace as found.

Please note that you venture beyond the cache position at your own risk! Stay safe and have fun.
