Twentse landschap
Het Twentse landschap is adembenemend mooi. Van uniek natuurgebied tot uitgestrekt veengebied. Terug in de tijd; ooit wandelden hier de mammoet, de wolharige neushoorn en het laatste reuzenhert. Sterker nog, ooit was dit gebied zee, getuige de walvis- en haaientanden die af en toe nog gevonden worden. Nu is het unieke Twentse land een bonte verzameling van bijzondere landschapselementen. Zin in bos, heide, weide, beekjes en bronnen? Twente heeft het allemaal!
The Twente landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. From unique nature reserve to extensive peat areas. Back in time; the mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros and the last giant deer even walked here. In fact, once this area was sea, witness the whale and shark teeth that are still found here today. Now the unique Twente country is a colorful collection of special landscape elements. Forest, heath, meadow, streams and springs. Twente has it all!
10 Kanotocht door Almelo - De Stilte
Almelo ontdekken op een andere manier, namelijk via het water. Deze serie bestaand uit 11 caches en een bonus is uitsluitend via het water mogelijk. Gezien de diepte op sommige stukken zijn de caches absoluut niet met een waadpak bereikbaar. Ook zijn ze dusdanig bevestigd, dat zwemmen geen optie is. Probeer dit dan ook niet.
Je kunt met je eigen bootje (zonder motor) het water op gaan, maar in de nabije omgeving zijn ook 1, 2 en 3 persoons kano's te huur. Vertel er in dat geval wel even bij dat je wilt gaan Geocachen. Het personeel van het verhuurbedrijf is op de hoogte gebracht en staat zeer positief tegenover Geocachen, maar heeft verder niets met deze cache serie te maken. Bij vragen dus de cachelegger benaderen.
Mocht je tijdens het CET event op zaterdag 8 september willen varen, is het verstandig op tijd te reserveren, dit om teleurstellingen te voorkomen.
Tijdens het uitzetten van de caches waren wij na ruim 1,5 uur terug. Ga dus uit van ongeveer 2 uur vaartijd, natuurlijk afhankelijk van je eigen tempo. Helaas is er in Almelo door diverse stremmingen en te lage bruggen geen volledige ronde mogelijk. Je zult dus heen en terug moeten varen. Om die reden kan het leuker zijn bv. op de heenweg de oneven nummers te zoeken en op de terugweg de even nummers.
Alternatief vertrekpunt is nr 11, hier is een kanostoep met parkeergelegenheid. Breng je je eigen boot mee, kun je hier prima terecht.
In alle caches zit een bonusgetal, dit heb je nodig om de bonuscache te vinden. Deze kom je pas op de terugweg tegen.
Discover Almelo in a different way, namely via the water. This series consists of 11 caches and a bonus. It is only possible to visit the caches by water. Given the depth on some places, the caches are absolutely not accessible with a wader. They are also placed in such a way that swimming is not an option. Please do not try.
You can go on the water with your own boat (without motor), but in the vicinity you can also rent 1, 2 and 3 persons canoes. In that case, please mention that you want to go Geocaching. The staff of the rental company has been informed and is very positive about Geocaching, but has nothing to do with this cache series. In case of questions, please approach the cacheowner.
If you want to go during the CET event on Saturday 8 September, it is wise to reserve on time, to avoid disappointments.
While placing the caches we were back after about 1.5 hours. To do the complete series, you need about 2 hours, of course depending on your own pace. Unfortunately, there is no complete round in Almelo due to various blocks and low bridges. You will therefore have to row back and forth. For that reason it can be more fun, to search for the odd numbers on the way out and the even numbers on the way back.
There is a bonus number in all caches, which is what you need to find the bonus cache. You will only encounter this cache on the way back.
