Mark your calendars for this years CITO-10th Annual Picnic in the Pines is almost here! This years event will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018. ♻️ Join us at 11:00AM at the Yucca Group site for some clean up in the surrounding area on Public Lands Day. We’ll have some bags or bring your own. Don’t forget your gloves, hats, sunscreen along with your trash grabbers. Participation in this event will earn you a CITO souvenir
Let us gather after CITO with a meet-n-greet potluck to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall. 🌲 🌲🌲🍁🐿🦉🦌🐜🦋
We have a nice, private, secluded picnic site reserved in the Yucca Group Area at the Oak Flat Picnic Ground from 11:00AM- 3-ish PM. There are several tables (some of them shaded), 2-4 serving tables, 2 grills, and restrooms available nearby. Grills will be up and ready by noon and volunteers are needed to do the grilling. If you are new or just passing through, come have some fun with local cachers.
We plan to close the gate to parking at 3:30 PM. If you think that you will be geocaching in the area past 3:30 PM please move your car to a parking space outside the gate.
Directions from Albuquerque: Drive east on I-40 to the Tijeras exit. Take the exit 175 Drive south on HWY 337 to Oak Flat Road (about 8.4 miles) at N 34 59.380, W 106 19.807. Turn left (or east) and proceed about 1 mile to the Oak Flat Picnic area on the left. Follow the signs to the Yucca Group Area.
Yucca area has a slightly smaller parking area. If Yucca parking is full when you arrive, unload your goodies and park 300 ft north of Yucca along the road used to reach Yucca.
When logging "will attend," please indicate the number of people in your party and which dish you will be bringing. We do not need paper plates, cups, napkins, or utensils.
We will have the charcoal grills set up and ready to use by noon. If you want to help with the barbecue, we would be grateful for your assistance!
