The L-39 Albatross
Wingspan - 25"
Length - 31"
Weight - 18oz
This is a radio control scale model of the Aero L-39 Albatross, a high performance jet trainer developed in Czechoslovakia during the 1960's. It was the first trainer aircraft to be equipped with a turbofan power plant. This radio control model is equipped with a ducted fan electric motor housed in the body of the model that sucks in air from the front and forces it out through the rear like a real jet. It produces a high speed whine sound and can hit speeds of about 75 mph. This plane is happy in a big field like Ewa's to fly in.
These sometimes small and light planes are often called "Park Flyers". Made of balsa or foam and having a electric motor, they are relatively quieter, weigh less and are able to fly in a smaller area like some neighborhood parks or in this models case a bigger sport type field. The best times to fly are in the early mornings when the winds are calm or slightly blowing with little or no muggles.
This is 1 of 10 caches in this "Come Fly With Me" series. There will be 9 traditional caches. SAVE the letters and numbers on the logs to solve the final cache coordinates.
Ewa Mahiko District Park
Park hours are 6am to 9pm
This park is the home of the 2005 West Oahu Little League of Ewa Beach - World Series champions.
This is a wide and also long park area wise. Great for small and larger electric planes. I see a few park flyers here during the week and sometimes on the weekends. It depends if any groups are using it for practice or games or summer fun activities. Most days there are nice trade winds.
