Geocache Description:

A short, two stage cache in the 2018 NoVaGo Survivor Series putting brains over brawn to the test. Stage one includes a field puzzle which requires scissors, tape, and a hard surface (think clipboard). Please only take one sheet per finding team to conserve puzzles. Stage two is a simple, camouflaged container a short walk away. Both stages were placed for easy access from the trail and you will not have to stray too far to reach either. Please be mindful of stealth at each stage.

“…and by winning the vote Boston Rob won the Redemption Island season and the million in cash but he and Grant have remained enemies outside of the show” Sarah explained, as my eyes glazed over in ennui. I was not the biggest fan of Survivor, nor Big Brother or any of those other reality shows, save for Say Yes To The Dress but even I saw it as nothing more than a Cheeto. Something light and puffy, devoid of substance but so addictive I couldn’t stop myself by having more.

“This season Boston Rob is going to host it because Jeff is out for surgery. No one on Reddit is too sure what he’s having done but we’re all wishing him well” he continued as the episode started. I had lost a bet and, as punishment, had the option of either eating an entire order of Uno’s Pizza Skins or watching the season of Survivor. The last order of pizza skins nearly put me in the hospital and shot my triglycerides so high my doctor put me on twice the recommended dose of statins, so I opted for Survivor this go round and made a mental note to not accept any more bets. Watching the TV we saw Rob, the former survivor winner, introducing the challenge much the same as Jeff used to, “Come on in guys! You ready to get to today's immunity challenge?” he announced with as much bravado as he could muster.

As the camera cut to the contestants, an assortment of made up women and showboating men, Sarah pointed out his favorites and gave me the inside scoop on what the fan forums had been saying about the season. I thought each season was a facsimile of the last with recycled challenges and prototypical contestants but maybe with Rob hosting it would be different. Maybe they’d have Patriots or Red Sox players give guest appearances or a challenge would be “Survive Southie For A Day”. Snickering to myself at these thoughts, Rob interjected with his scripted monologue, “First thing's first, I'll take back immunity from Patawomeck” and as the words rolled off his tongue, a tribesman carefully delivered the idol back to Rob.

“There has been some speculation about fixing the contest and inside betting” Sarah added as the televised sparks glowed on the fire, “They say Rob is betting on Dean to win and has been working with the producers to ensure he has, let’s say a better than usual chance”. With this in mind, I decided it might be interesting to see if the rumors were true or at least what twists Rob had in mind.

“Thank you! Once again immunity is back up for grabs. Today’s challenge will be a little different as the first tribe to win will receive immunity but need what they make as well” he remarked, noticing several contestants furrowing their brows in worry. He continued, “All of the blankets back in camp have been taken for the night, the coldest night yet. The first tribe to weave a blanket correctly, with the secret pattern intact, will win immunity, avoid tribal council, and, most importantly, stay warm.”

Hearing this I sat up a little, curiosity peaked. This seemed more like Connell’s Most Danger Game rather than ‘The Glamping Games’ that I had expected it to be. What-if questions suddenly started flooding into my mind as Rob continued.

On screen, eyes darted back and forth as realization set in. Rob smiled as he watched worry and inklings of fear creep onto everyone’s face. “Losers, someone will be going home tonight; hopefully with all their fingers and toes. I'll give you all a minute to strategize and we'll get started” he near laughed as he prepared the thin strips of cloth for each tribe.

What if Rob took Jeff out so he could take over the show? What if the contestants really are in danger and have to survive? With these questions turning in my mind, I came to another; what if I’ll actually like this season of Survivor?

Channeling an eerie timbre into his voice, Rob bellowed the words, “For immunity, survivors ready? Go!”
