On this magic meadow stands one of many memorials from WW2 in this area, a silent reminder of old times when hell was unleashed upon this peaceful place.
The monument is here to prevent those cursed days to happen again.
Many feet passed this area since and question of heaven and hell remained unanswered. Everyone had their own explanation.
One of which was offered by Zen master Hakuin when asked by mighty samurai in ancient times ...
. . .
“I want to know about heaven and hell,” said the samurai. “Do they really exist?” he asked Hakuin.
Hakuin looked at the soldier and asked, “Who are you?”
“I am a samurai,” announced the proud warrior.
“Ha!” exclaimed Hakuin. “What makes you think you can understand such insightful things? You are merely a callous, brutish soldier! Go away and do not waste my time with your foolish questions,” Hakuin said, waving his hand to drive away the samurai.
The enraged samurai couldn’t take Hakuin’s insults. He drew his sword, readied for the kill, when Hakuin calmly retorted, “This is hell.”
The soldier was taken aback. His face softened. Humbled by the wisdom of Hakuin, he put away his sword and bowed before the Zen Master.
“And this is heaven,” Hakuin stated, just as calmly.
...
You are standing at the place where great battles between heaven and hell raged in the past. More than once. And that fight is not over.
But the funny thing is: what will future bring, depends neither on heaven, nor hell.
It depends on YOU and YOU alone.
You are a munition in their hands. You decide what will be...
Heaven...? Or hell.
Choose wisely.
P.S A token of peace is more than welcomed. Feel free to leave one in the container.
