Geocache Description:

This is a tree that was grown from a sapling given to Mr. Evelyn Upson in 1902.  He was Wolcott's delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Hartford in 1902.  Each of the 169 delegates from each town were given a sapling.

In 2009 as an Eagle Scout project the area around the oak was cleaned up.  A fence was built, a sign made and a bench donated.

Old timer geocachers will remember a geocache being here years ago.  We think it's important to bring cachers to historical places like this that "off the beaten track".

As an added note, the blue saltbox house across the way from the oak was built in 1774 by a member of the Alcott family  (related to the author of Little Woman).

This is a park and grab but the road is curvy and at times busy so use caution where you park.

Bring a pen and cover cache well after signing in.  Not snow friendly.

When we replaced the cache container we were dismayed to find the area overgrown and unkept. We contacted the Wolcott Historical Society and within days the area was mowed and the sign repainted, we are so impressed by that.
