This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. This AR experience is location based. You will need to go to the published coordinates to run and complete the AR "experience" It will only allow you to start the AR within +/- 100ft of these coordinates.
Go to the posted coords. To find the cache you will need to use Metaverse (for iOS and Android) it's a free app that I found to be really user friendly and can be downloaded for free on your smartphone. Once the app is installed and opened, type in the search box @Scout1950 and select that name. Next, select the Geocaching icon, then click on the cache name Challenger Way icon. Remember, if you are not at the published coordinates you will not be able to start the AR. As required by Groundspeak, you will still need a GPS capable device (GPS, Phone) to find the cache and sign the log!
Windward Beach Park: This Park caters to all (angler, crabbers and sightseers). The Park features a fishing and crabbing pier, a boardwalk, picnic area, sun shade gazebo and lighted paths. This Park is not only a site to see during the tourism season, but is also open year-round for residents. The unique Park is situated on the Metedeconk River.
I have done a few of the AR caches to the South. They seem like a nice change of pace. Coming back to my office I did a lot of research on them. I found this Triva Template that was developed by Metaverse. It was shareable so I copied it and did some editing to suit my needs. At the completion you will recieve a Trophy and continue on to the Cache Location. If you so choose you can leave a Selfie of yourself or the group. This is optional and if you choose not to you can continue on.
This is a nice park on the Metedeconk River. Benches along the trail to sit and view. A nice park for the kids to play in. I hope you enjoy your experience.
