Water pipelines are often referred to as snakes or silver snakes, especially by kids. This particular pipeline starts at the Tod Reservoir about 27kms north of Port Lincoln and goes all the way to Ceduna, the distance being approximately 400kms. It is the mains water for everyone along the way. Water from the River Murray is also in the pipeline as there is insufficient water on the Eyre Peninsula to sustain the vast area without this extra supply.
There is a parking bay across the road from the cache where trucks are occasionally pulled in for weighing, load strapping, roadworthiness etc to help keep our roads safe, so safe parking for this find.
This is my first cache placement. I wanted this region to have more caches to showcase the hub township of Wudinna, the Gawler Ranges National Park to the north and the great granite features dotted around the district.
