Geocache Description:

Boomerang Falls

This cache is not located in a National Park, but you will need to visit one to get information from virtual waypoints to work out the location of the physical cache.

Boomerang Falls is one of the Northern Rivers lesser known and infrequently visited waterfalls. Park your car at start of the Boomerang Falls Management Track (South). The walk heads through some areas of large old blackbutt forests and palm forests fill the gullies. Not far into the trek, you'll come across Waypoint 1. You need to find a single brass number attached to a fixture at the WP1 co-ordinates. Let this number be X.

Once this has been discovered, wander further down the trail, until you come to a Y intersection at the Waypoint 2 coordinates. Again, you'll be looking for a brass number, a single digit. Let this number be Y.

The final waypoint, which is the listed coordinate for this cache can be found by taking the right hand fork at the Y intersection. Walk down a hundred meters or so, and it wont be long and you'll hear a waterfall in the distance. Head toward the falls, taking one of the few tracks that have been cut through the undergrowth. This is quite steep, and will very abruptly lead to the top of a cliff with a 50m drop. If you have children with you, make sure you have a very close eye on them, as one wrong step could end in catastrophe.

Now that you've found the top of the falls, you need to find another brass number. It's physically larger than the previous numbers. Let this number be Z. Have fun at the top of the falls, just watch your step close to the cliff. It's a sheer drop to sudden death. At no time do you need to be dangerously close to the top of the cliff to find the waypoint.

The falls drop into a secluded valley and its anyone’s guess what widlife is down there. The valley below is home to the 9ha big scrub remnant, Boomerang Falls Flora Reserve with its Booyong sub tropical rainforest. Huge Strangler figs can be seen protruding from the forest canopy and fine examples of blackbean, red & yellow carabeen and white booyong can be glimpsed through the foliage. Large old escarpment trees can be seen on the opposite ridge while bangalow palms hug the rhyolite cliffs at the base of the falls.

You can return to your car the way you came, or take the track to the North entrance of the management trail - and walk back down Nightcap Range Road.

Final cache coordinates are located at:

S28° 39.2YZ    E153° 21.6YX

You're looking for a regular sized PVC cache, with a few swaps.
