This is the last of the caches in memory of my brother Wirt, a Marine who served in Nam in the mid 60's. He was shot through the leg, sent to Chelsea Naval Hospital, in Chelsea MA, where he stayed for months with his leg in traction. Doctors told him he would never walk again without a leg brace. He didn't agree, so he ditched the brace, became the local Scout Master, taking many backpacking trips through the White Mountains with "his boys". He became Fire Chief, was on Rescue, and was the local mail carrier for many years. I guess all the milage he put on with the mail route wasn't enough, since he bought a mountain bike and spent hours biking after work. Nothing much stopped that man. He would have loved these trails.
