Geocache Description:

Please keep this cache well hidden and replace it as found. There is a lot of student traffic in this area and I repeatedly have to adjust this cache so that it is not visible from a distance. You may certainly attempt to find this cache on New Student Move-In Day, but the area will be incredibly hectic. You have been warned!

This cache is in front of my dorm in Nathaniel Rochester Hall (NRH/Building 49) at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Like many new students, the residence halls were my first sight of RIT on move-in day and the campus seemed colossal and intimidating compared to my small town. Over time though, it came to be a friendly and comforting sight returning from the airport for a new school year.

Nathaniel Rochester Hall is named after Colonel Nathaniel Rochester, founder of the city of Rochester and first president of the Rochester Athenaeum, which merged with the Mechanics Institute in 1891 to become RIT. Today NRH houses important services such as the Corner Store, ITS ResNet, and post office, and is also the location of special interest houses dedicated to engineering, photography and computer science. Stealth is required. RIT is an open campus and visitors are able to park in any designated visitor space or general parking space not restricted by signs for other users. For more details on parking, see here.
