Rifugio Fratelli CALVI - a zio Vittorio [GSG18]
ZIO VITTORIO
Oggi siamo in 18 a salire al Riugio FRATELLI CALVI. Dobbiamo festeggiare zio Vittorio che compie 90 anni !!
Dieci anni fà, al suo ottantesimo compleanno, anche lui era salito da Carona, a piedi sino al Rifugio, oggi la sua schiena non glielo permette più e quindi salirà con la Jeep.
Ma la gioia di rivedere ancora una volta le sue amate montagne è grande e gliela si legge negli occhi.
Se amo la montagna lo devo a lui: zio Vittorio! Con lui ho iniziato le prime camminate percorrendo le Orobie in lungo e in largo. Sempre con lui le prime vette tra cui la Presolana, il Pizzo del Diavolo (salito anche per la cresta Baroni) e tante altre. Molte le escursioni sulle Dolomiti di Brenta come il sentiero Osvaldo Orsi e le ferrate come Il Sentiero delle Bocchette Alte.
Zio Vittorio è stato un alpinista vero, oggi lo definiremmo eroico. Senza particolari attrezzature ha salito le più importanti montagne italiane tra cui: il Monte Bianco, Il Rosa, il Gran Paradiso, Il Dente del Gigante, Il Disgrazia, Il Bernina solo pe citarne alcune. Lui saliva dappertutto: sulle montagne, sugli alberi, sul campanile, sulle gru in cantiere. Se c'era qualcosa su cui salire, lui saliva!!
Oggi, a novantanni percorre a piedi almeno cinque, sei Km al giorno, solo in pianura però, perchè la schiena non gli permette altro!

IL RIFUGIO
Per raggiungere la cache dovrete arrivare al Rifugio FRATELLI CALVI. Parcheggiate l'auto a Carona alle coordinate indicate. Dovrete prendere un ticket di 2 Euro in un qualsiasi esercizio commerciale di Carona.
Da lì un comodo e panoramico sentiero vi porterà al Rifugio in circa 2 ore e mezza.
Dopo 15 minuti raggiungerete la frazione PAGLIARI, poco oltre incontrerete la magnifica cascata della VAL SAMBUZZA. Continuando arriverete all'alpeggio LAGO DEL PRATO. Qui girando a sinistra si può prendere un sentiero che sale al Rifugio Longo, voi invece, proseguite diritti fino ad arrivare sotto al muraglione della DIGA DEL FREGABOLGIA.
Il sentiero sale a sinistra e vi consentirà di arrivare sul muraglione della diga stessa dove potrete ammirare il LAGO FREGABOLGIA. Qui, vi consiglio una breve deviazione (sempre che sia possibile farla e non ci siano Lavori in Corso sulla diga stessa): camminando sul muraglione andate sino in fondo sul lato destro della diga. Osservando verso valle noterete un straordinario manufatto: il troppopieno della diga. Si tratta di un gigantesco imbuto che pare destinato ad inghiottire il mondo intero!! Uno spettacolo affascinante !!
Tornate sui vosti passi e preseguite sul comodo sentiero che costeggiando il lago vi porterà in 15 minuti al Rifugio Fratelli CALVI.
ATTENZIONE: al rifugio si può salire anche in Mountain BIKE, se avete gambe naturalmente perchè alcuni pezzi sono molto ripidi. Soluzione ideale una E-Bike, e il divertimento è assicurato !!
Le persone anziane o disabili posso infine raggiungere il rifugio prenotando il trasporto con dei fuoristrada!
LA CACHE
Si tratta di una semplice MULTI con un solo Step e il FINAL.
Arrivati al rifugio, dopo esservi ristorati, contate tutte le finestre poste su tutti e quattro i lati del rifugio. Le finestre che dovete contare sono quelle che hanno un antone verde a chiusura.
Contate TUTTE le FINESTRE ma NON contate le PORTE!! Per vederle tutte dovrete allontanarvi dal rifugio girandogli attorno !! Attenzione al Lato NORD: è quello che presenta più finestre di tutti !!!
Le avete contate ? Tutte? Sono davvero tante!!. Bene, Il numero delle finestre sarà W. Prima di controllare con il geocheck fate la prova del NOVE. Ve la ricordate ? Ok, deve dare come risultato 8 !!

UNCLE VITTORIO
Today we are in 18 to go up to the Riugio FRATELLI CALVI. We have to celebrate Uncle Vittorio, who turns 90!
Ten years ago, on his eightieth birthday, he too had climbed from Carona, walking up to the Refuge, today his back does not allow him anymore and then he will climb with the Jeep.
But the joy of seeing his beloved mountains again is great and you can read it in his eyes.
If I love the mountains I owe it to him: Uncle Vittorio! With him I started the first walks along the Orobie far and wide. Always with him the first peaks including the Presolana, the Pizzo del Diavolo (also climbed for the ridge Baroni) and many others. Many excursions on the Brenta Dolomites such as the Osvaldo Orsi path and the ferrata like Il Sentiero delle Bocchette Alte.
Uncle Vittorio was a true mountaineer, today we would call him heroic. No particular equipment has climbed the most important Italian mountains including: Mont Blanc, Il Rosa, Gran Paradiso, Il Dente del Gigante, Il Disgrazia, Il Bernina just to name a few. He went up everywhere: on the mountains, on the trees, on the bell tower, on the cranes in the yard. If there was something to climb on, he would go up !!
Today, at ninety years walk on foot at least five, six miles a day, only in the lowlands, however, because the back does not allow anything else!

THE REFUGE
To reach the cache you must arrive at Rifugio FRATELLI CALVI. Park your car in Carona at the indicated coordinates. You will need to get a 2 Euro ticket in any Carona shop.
From there, a comfortable and scenic trail will take you to the refuge in about 2 hours and a half.
After 15 minutes you will reach the PAGLIARI hamlet, just beyond you will find the magnificent waterfall of VAL SAMBUZZA. Continuing on, you will arrive at the LAKE DEL PRATO mountain pasture. Here turning left you can take a path that goes up to the Longo Refuge, but you continue straight until you get under the wall of the DIGA DEL FREGABOLGIA.
The trail climbs to the left and will allow you to arrive on the wall of the same dam where you can admire the LAKE FREGABOLGIA. Here, I recommend a short detour (if it is possible to do it and there are no work in progress on the dam): walking on the wall go to the bottom on the right side of the dam. Looking towards the valley you will notice an extraordinary artifact: the overflow of the dam. It is a gigantic funnel that seems destined to swallow the whole world !! A fascinating show !!
Back on your steps and preseguite on the comfortable path that runs along the lake will take you in 15 minutes to Rifugio Fratelli CALVI.
WARNING: at the refuge you can also climb in Mountain BIKE, if you have legs naturally because some pieces are very steep. An ideal solution for an E-Bike, and fun is guaranteed !!
The elderly or disabled people can finally reach the refuge by booking the transport with off-road vehicles!
THE CACHE
It is a simple MULTI with only one Step and the FINAL.
Arrived at the refuge, after having refreshed yourself, count all the windows placed on all four sides of the refeuge. The windows you have to count are the ones that have a green closure antone.
Count ALL the WINDOWS but DO NOT count the DOORS !! To see them all you will have to get away from the refuge by walking around it !! Beware of the NORTH side: it's the one that has more windows than everyone !!!
Did you count them? all? The number of windows will be W. Well, before checking with the geocheck please casting out nines. Do you remember? Ok, the result must be 8 !!
