Genneveds kyrkplats är en vackert belägen kulle i gamla kulturbygder som denna dalgång, som även kallas väderkvarnarnas dal. Kyrkan som fanns här brändes ned 1546 enligt Wikipedia.
Den aktiva hembygdsföreningen har satt upp en duktigt stor infotavla där det finns en del intressanta uppgifter för den nyfikne. Det har funnits en cache här tidigare.
Gendalen hette fram till år 1900 GENNEVED, men när den nya järnvägen VÄSTGÖTABANAN togs i bruk så ansågs att en namnförväxling med halländska GENEVAD eftersom järnvägsstationen även blev poststation.
Om man fortsätter stora vägen mot Sollebrunn så passerar du strax Gendalens Bygdegård, sedan några tiotal meter in på avtagsvägen till vänster finns en stensättning, och inte långt från denna även galgbacken. Du fortsätter stora vägen och passerar några gårdar, sedan en lång högersväng. Du passerar Mellbyån och kommer till KRYDDÅKES KURVA. Alla som är från trakten känner till denna kurva och är en litet kuriös referenspunkt. Kryddåke hade den lilla gården som ligger precis innan du passerar ån och kurvan. Den lilla vägen till höger precis innan Kryddåkes gård är det som återstår av av den gamla järnvägen.
