Used Language at a Dance FINE OF £5 IMPOSED.
For having used indecent language at a dance at Wollombi on January 26, Michael Jones was fined £5, in default 10 days, by Mr. C. G. Carr-Boyd, P.M., at Cessnock Police Court yesterday. Sergeant Booth said that the defendant used the language complained of to some women in the hall. Jones told the magistrate that he was drunk at the time and did not know what he was saying. He asked for time to pay the fine, but the request was refused. 'I could not allow time to pay in a case like this. The language used was a gross insult to two young girls and a married woman,' said Mr. Carr-Boyd.
