Geocache Description:

There will be a good spot to pull off the road closest to the river, easiest when going east toward Glenwood. Be safe and please watch for cars! you can pull right up to this one - magnetic - should be an easy park and grap. smiley

The natural gap in the mountains, or narrows of the Caddo River, is famed in history and legend. A pioneer road through the gap connecte Fort Smith with Old Washington and other points, with a toll bridge spanning the river. The original gap was widened for a railroad and highway. This is a very popular spot for swimming and floating the river.
