At a turnout near mile post 4 The Kootenay River has its headwaters in British Columbia Canada. It flows south through Lake Koocanusa which is formed by Libby Dam. The river then goes through the Montana towns of Libby and Troy, then into Idaho. In northern Idaho, it flows back into British Columbia. This scenic river then joins with the Columbia River near Castlegar, British Columbia. Cache should be available in winter depending on the depth of the plowed snow. Cache and Replace Only
