The Kootenay River is a beautiful and scenic mountain river that is a great area for viewing bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, and other waterfowl. On the east bank of David Thompson Bridge just below Libby Dam, you can watch bald eagles and osprey diving for fish and returning to nearby nests and snags. There are more than 20 nests between Libby and the dam. Watch for bald eagles soaring below the dam to dive and catch Kokanee salmon. Cache should be available in winter depending on the depth of the plowed snow. Cache and Replace Only
