Ruben was our Golden Retriever that we had for 11 of his 12 years of life. We adopted him from some people down in Southern Illinois. Every dog we have ever given a home has been adopted. We felt it would be quite fitting to have a geocache placed near the Kewanee Humane Society in his name. Please DO NOT put money into the machine, the coin return is not working and no money is required to open the machine. The mechanism is in it to keep bugs out of top portion. The Kewanee Animal Shelter has been finding forever homes for pets in need for the past decade. Recently they went under a renovation to redo the shelter and improve its facilities. They are open 7 days a week from 8 till 11am and 4-6pm daily. When you come find this geocache, if you have any pet supplies you are no longer needing, we ask that you consider bringing them to the Animal Shelter nearby. Or you are welcome to put them into the machine, and we will facilitate getting them to the shelter if the shelter is closed the day you come find it. It is by no means required for you to do this to find this cache. On the front of the cache will be the article of the week from the local paper showing several animals in need of a forever home.
