Geocache Description:

Situated near Pekina, this school was opened in 1884 as the Pekina Extension School, and had a name change to Wepowie School in 1889. Wepowie was the name of an adjoining large estate. It was built by Edward Smith of Orrorroo, who also built the Booleroo Centre Police Station, and several local churches. This building is privately owned, and still has the roof ventilator, which was compulsory for South Australian schools. The Post Office and Methodist Sunday school operated from the school room. The school was closed in 1947.
