Geocache Description:

k̓aʔk̓aʔ is the Lushootseed word for crow.

This geocache is on the north side of Cromwell Park, an expansive area with a playground, washrooms, wetlands and both trees and open space. The best parking spot is shown as a waypoint on the Northeast side, where there is no competition with the courthouse. Please follow park rules, especially closed hours. You do not need to disturb the guardian.

The information below is interesting, but not needed for the cache find.

Lushootseed, Puget Salish, Puget Sound Salish or Skagit-Nisqually is the language/ dialect commonality of many Salish Native American tribes of Washington state. The Northwestern Crow, otherwise known as Corvus Caurinus, is a bit smaller on average than its American Crow kin, and makes a sound slightly lower-pitched and hoarser. Crows usually travel in groups, and make a cawing sound while ravens are much larger and make a croaking sound. Many are under the impression that crows are harbingers of death in Native American cultures. We do not see much evidence of any Native American tribe in which crows were seen that way. Indeed, just the opposite, seeing a crow is considered good luck by many tribes. Great news Bothell! (https://www.uwb.edu/visitors/crows) In Native American folklore, the intelligence of crows is usually portrayed as their most important feature.

This geocache is on the north side of Cromwell Park, an expansive area with a playground, washrooms, wetlands and both trees and open space. The best parking is on the Northeast side, where there is no competition with the courthouse. Please comply with the park's open times.
