This is our first traditional hide and we are dedicating it to the team’s Father/Father-in-law/Grandfather(“Pappou”), who owned and operated the Red Boot Drive-In at this location from 1964-2008.
Jim came from Greece in 1956 and left Standard Aero to be his own boss in the restaurant business. He was well-known for his friendliness and his food. Customers came from miles around for his famous Karvys and chili. He hand-made all the Karvys, which were a crinkle-cut deep-fried potato with a very special coating that was actually patented. They were so addictive! Check out the picture we attached for some history of the business!
The current owner at this location has an Air Force theme and some great tasting burgers, to boot. He tells us that customers still ask for Karvys! Unfortunately, they are too labor-intensive to be added to the menu.
Be sure to support the local business and have a meal, be it eat-in at the stand-up space inside or on the picnic tables outside. Please use stealth during business hours!
