Geocache Description:

In 1889, the first public coin telephone was installed by inventor William Gray at a bank in Hartford, Conn. It was a "postpay" machine (coins were deposited after the call was placed). It is rare to find a working pay phone in this age of cell phones, but there are a few around. This is an easy grab but it is very possible that you will have a ferry waiting line people that may watch you, so be stealthy or even check to see if there is a dial tone.
