This M60-A1 Main Battle Tank is named the Purple Heart Tank. It was previously located at Desoto Park beginning in 1992. With the development of the Garland County Veterans Memorial and the Military Park, the decision was made to relocate the tank here. In December 2017 it was relocated using labor and equipment donated by Arkansas Aggregates. A newspaper article indicated relocating the 40 ton vehicle was much harder than orginally expected.
When we first saw the tank it was facing the opposite direction and looked like it was ready to attack the back of the nearby buildings. We were happy to note that it had been turned around a couple weeks later.
