A small cache along the new Mirbat – Shuwaymiyah highway overlooking a beautiful green lagoon

The Jabel Samhan road running from Shuwaymiyah via Hasik and Sadah to Mirbat, is by far the most spectacular route into Dhofar. It skirts a nature reserve located in the Jebel Samhan mountain range and is surrounded by thousands of wild frankincense trees along the way. Small and large wadis tumble down the mountains finding their way into the Indian Ocean.
One of the larger of these dry watercourses is Wadi Sanaaq, which ends in a breath-takingly beautiful khor dotted with palm trees and containing a green lagoon just before ending at a small beach. While the cache is hidden on the edge of a parking area next to the road, there is a nearby track (just next to the bridge over Wadi Sanaaq) which leads down to the lagoon. Great picnic / camping locations can be found here for those that wish to spend some more time at this idyllic and remote location.
The cache is a small magnetic container containing a logbook and pencil.
