Goat Or Boys Cries?
Many years ago a young boy drowned in the pool at the Turtle Mountain Playground (Hotel and Bar) that has long since been torn down. It was located in the middle of the huge lot.
Some years after that (Circa 1969) two young boys decided to follow the goats up the mountain side, following the goat trails. The ended up stranded on a ledge. After some attempts to get the boys failed, a mountaineering team from Banff was called in. Most of the towns families and people were there, giving the parents support, watching and praying for the safe rescue of the two adventurous youth.
The team accended the mountain and prepared to rope down to the stranded boys. When the team was approx 2-3 yards from reaching the boys, one of the boys fell off the ledge and to his death many feet below. It was believed that he succumbed to hypo-thermia. The other boy was rescued and brought down off the mountain with repelling ropes. Many who were there that night (Including the cache hider) believe that if we sit we can hear the bleat of the goats telling people to stay away as well as the cry in the wind of the dead boy.
