The event will take place on an islet in Lough Muckno, so you're going to need a boat to get there. I plan to make the journey across from the parking co-ordinates on a kayak.
We will meet on the island for 30 minutes at 12:30 pm. Afterwards we will continue to visit some of the other islands on the lake, and anyone who wants to is welcome to come along too.
Note Lough Muckno is a wide open lake. On a windy day it's as bad as trying to kayak at sea. Any kind of significant wind, especially from the South/East will make the paddle difficult to say the least and above a certain strength it becomes unsafe. If it looks like conditions are unsafe I may need to make amendments to the event.
The cache title refers to Enid Blyton's first Famous Five book. Some time in the 1980s when I first started reading "grown up" books I discovered and devoured all the Famous Five books. This one in particular with its shipwreck, treasure map, abandoned gold appealed to me more than all the others. Who knows, maybe this is partly to blame for my love of geocaching?
