The Holy Well Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cuilcagh: I am archiving this cache on foot of the Needs Archived Note and reading most of the logs leads me to believe it is placed in a Dry Stone Wall, which is against the Guidelines.

If you wish to move the cache to a more suitable spot - please contact me at geocuilcagh@gmail.com

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

Brosna Town is a dear home to many in the Kerry Hills. This Cache is placed at the Holy well of St. Moling.

In 614 A.D. St. molings mother gave birth to her baby here in the foothills of Sliabh Luachra during the fall of snow. Angels descended to the spot where the baby lay and the snow melted for 30 feet around him, a spring well marking the spot.

St. Moling was Archbishop of Fern, performed many miracles and built a monastery in Carlow where he died in 646 A.D. This well has been a place of pilgrimage with people paying visits every saturday in May, the rosaey being said at each of the five kneeling stones around the well.

Many cures have been attributed to St. Molings well and this restoration was built in 1998 by the brosna Heritage Group BYOP (Bring your own pen).
