It seemed appropriate that when visiting Mrs W's family this summer that relatives were moving so this is to commemorate their living on the Loke for many years and to wave off Gayle & Dave as they move onto pastures new. They purchased the old farmhouse and sold the plot of land next door to my parents, who then built their own home.
The word "Loke" is perhaps from Old English loca - enclosure, stronghold; akin to Old English Loc lock on a door. In modern English it means a short narrow lane leading to a dead end.
Fairhead Loke is a bridleway with field views at the top and a small number of private properties as well as a farm with cows, pigs and horses.
