Famous Quad Citizens - John Fremont McCullough Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

cneumann98: I've decided to let this cache go. A previous log led me to believe that the tethering at GZ was hanging on by the bare minimum but when I retrieved the container, I found it hanging from the substantial branch just as I hid it four years ago. Thanks to all who left fun logs over the years.

Geocache Description:

John Fremont "Grandpa" McCullough (1871-1973) was an American entrepreneur. Born in Douds, IA, he attended college in Oswego, NY. He moved to Davenport in 1911 and bought a dairy business in Green River, IL. He and his son developed a formula for soft-serve ice cream in 1938 and tested it at an ice cream shop; they sold 1600 servings at 10¢ each in two hours. After two years of modifying a freezer for this new formula, they opened a soft-serve ice cream shop in Joliet, IL. "Grandpa" McCullough decided to name it Dairy Queen because he viewed the cow as the queen of the dairy industry and his soft-serve formula as the queen of dairy products.
