Geocache Description:

Church Micro 7160...Olney

This cache has been placed to bring you to Church of St Peter and St Paul in Olney.

It replaces GC5KHGV recently archived by Kryfto. Thanks to Kryfto for kindly allowing me to use his information and container.

The cache is not at the published coordinates.

The greater part of the church you see here was built between c.1330 and 1400.
The church spire reaches a height of 185 feet.
The tower originally housed a peal of six bell the oldest of which is dated 1599.
There is currently a peal of eight bells which is regarded as one of the finest in the country.

The Church is where slave trader turned abolitionist John Newton – author of the hymn Amazing Grace – served as curate from 1764 to 1779. You can see a stain glass image of him at the church, as well as a representation of his ship in storm during which he converted to Christianity.

To find the cache you will need to visit the posted coordinates for the main (North) entrance to the church.

On each outer door to the church porch is a shield.

For A, Calculate the number of items on the shield on the left hand door minus the number of items on the shield on the right hand door.

For B, identify the approximate background colour of the shield on the left hand door: Red = 1, Blue = 3, Green = 5, Yellow = 7, Black = 9.

For C, identify the item depicted on the shield on the left hand door: Keys = 1, Crosses = 3, Daggers = 5, Anchors = 7, Wheatsheaves = 9

For D, identify the approximate background colour of the shield on the right hand door: Black = 0, Yellow = 2, Green = 4, Blue = 6, Red = 8

For E, identify the item depicted on the shield on the right hand door: Wheatsheaves = 1, Anchors = 3, Crosses = 5, Keys = 7, Stars =9

Use this to calculate the final coordinates: N52 09.ABC W000 41.DEC
