I am placing caches along the Bitterroot bike/walking trail from the Southern end, just South of Hamilton to the Ravalli County line, North of Florence. The caches along the trail will be named after butterflies and will be a variety of cache types and different containers. I will try to give parking areas for different parts of the trail. This trail is to get you out biking or walking.
Please don't park along 93 and please don't park in private driveways!
Woodland Skippers are found in the Western United States including the Bitterroot Valley. You can tell the difference between the sexes by the forewing. The forewing for the male has a black stigma and the female has a black diagonal band. To learn more about these butterflies check out this: https://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Ochlodes-sylvanoides
My oldest daughter, who graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Organismal Biology with a minor in Entomology (study of insects,) is helping me with this trail. She has always loved insects since she was 3 years old. My daughter has caught many of these sweet butterflies.
You are looking for a pill bottle. You will need to bring something to sign the log with. Please put back as found.
NOTE: Make sure to sign the logbook, as online "Found It" logs without a corresponding entry in the logbook will be deleted.
