This cache is placed in honor of a geocaching class I am teaching to Girl Scout volunteers. Did you know that Girl Scout Juniors can earn a Geocacher badge? I came down here to scope out the caches and hide a couple. I came out to the corner here and decided this would be a nice place for a hide. It is beautiful here with a nice view of Coronado, the bridge and the 10th Avenue terminal where the Dole ships dock to unload their cargo of bananas.
Dole brings 40-foot, refrigerated containers in on ships from South America and unloads them right here in San Diego. The port receives about 50,000 of these containers a year. If you were to load all the fruit and vegetables on a scale, they would weigh about 950 million tons. And bananas are the majority of the shipments. I have lived here for decades and had no idea. That's just bananas!
Metered parking is nearby. This can be a high muggle area so use stealth. Try doing some sit ups or maybe do some push ups on the ground. The hint is pretty specific, so use it only if you need to.
