Rose Park Neighborhood is named after the roundabout-like park named Rose Park. Adorned with beautiful roses at each of the four entrances, many people assume the park is named after the fragrant flower--perhaps that is true. However, if you look at the park from an aerial view, you may notice the park resembles a different kind of rose: a compass rose. A compass rose is the circle on a map depicting the cardinal directions (N, S, E, W). Many compass roses have narrowing points as they extend from the center, as does Rose Park. Compass Roses also usually have some depiction of the secondary directions (NW, SW, SE, NE), as does Rose Park.
As you descreetly search for this cache (it is a park after all), take a moment to appreciate the nod to civic cartography.
