This is one of a series of caches that will take you to some of the small rural cemeteries in Jackson County, Iowa. They are not designed to be P&G so as the description leads you around the cemetery take time to look at the stones and consider the lives and times of those who have gone before us.
Please be respectful, do not hunt at night, do not disturb mourners, and leave this peaceful and revered place in good condition. Remember to practice CITO, always. Thank You
The Jackson County Poor Farm Cemetery was established to provide a final resting place for the county's poor, orphaned, neglected, and physically or mentally challenged residents. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey in 2018 showed that no part of the cemetery is totally “empty” and as many as 400 burials may have taken place, only 12 of which are marked with grave stones.
Because there are so few stones the puzzle for this cemetery will be easier than some of our caches, but we wanted to include this one because of it's unique history.
